Women Empowerment for Excellence in Coastal Region Program
Mazingira Kwanza Foundation (MKF) is currently implementing the Women Empowerment for Excellence in Coastal Region Program, which aims to give women more agency so that they can gain access to agricultural land to implement social and economic development initiatives. The project will encourage both men and women to participate in a training programme designed to increase their knowledge and, in particular, to encourage men to change their behaviour and stereotypes in ways that will allow women to work the land more effectively. Furthermore, the programme will provide men with a more nuanced understanding of women's perspectives, allowing them to move beyond viewing them as objects of amusement and instead include them in social and economic development decisions, particularly those concerning land access and agricultural goods distribution.
The mainstays are meetings for raising awareness, training, support, networking, and advocacy that actively involve those who will eventually benefit from the project (the right holders and duty bearers). Several approaches will be used to complete the activities, including the Empowerment Approach, the Rights Based Approach, the Facilitation Approach, and the Integrated Approach.
A monitoring mechanism will be implemented by the Mazingira Kwanza monitoring team, in collaboration with the focal person from the District Community Office, District Welfare Office, Ward, and Community level, and leaders from beneficiary groups (Track Results Taskforce). The task force's primary responsibility will be to monitor how things are going daily. Other monitoring and evaluation activities, such as team meetings, activity reports, monthly and quarterly reports, and similar activities, can be used to further track changes and gauge the project's success.
